As I drove to Craig + Janelle’s Stockyards Elopement, I couldn’t help but think about 2020 as a whole. Nothing the past year has gone how we planned. I have watched numerous brides deal with reschedules, cancellations, and pieces of their dream wedding slip away from them.
Yet, every time I see a happy bride….a happy couple… that just wants to get married, no matter the circumstances, it warms my heart.
Craig + Janelle planned a small elopement in the Ft. Worth Stockyards on New Years Eve. The excitement built to get married on the last day of 2020. As the day got closer the temperatures continued to drop and the rain chances continued to rise. Each time I checked in with Janelle she happily stated that the wedding would continue as planned.
The day went on. I bundled up and headed out. The couple and a few of their closest friends braved the cold and drizzle, brought a small propane heater, and had a wedding….and let me just tell you, it was SO special and Janelle was the most beautiful, beaming, freezing, drenched bride I have ever seen!
Janelle may have been nervous about the rain or the temperatures but she didn’t let it show. She stayed so cool, calm, and happy.
Craig was not a fan of photos but he did so great and he was so hilarious.
You could definitely see the rain in quite a few photos but these two were so happy through it all!
See what I mean…hilarious.
This Stockyards Elopement was the perfect way to end 2020. Freezing cold and rainy I wouldn’t trade it for anything and I don’t think this happy couple would either.
Whether you are planning an elopement or wedding just know that not everything is going to go perfect on your day. You have a choice…be upset or embrace it. I recommend you embrace it. Craig + Janelle will remember this day as a happy day because they rolled with the punches and enjoyed the day!
