Southern Social Styled Shoot

This Southern Social Styled Shoot has been a labor of love.

Not that long ago I was looking at new advertising options. Living in a big city there are so many ways to get your name out to potential clients and I wanted to try a few new options. I sent inquiries to Magazines, advertising sites, etc and I kept getting no little to no response.

I looked at my body of work and thought to myself, I have so much experience, what am I missing?…..and then I got this response:

“Thank you for your inquiry. We will need to see 1 real wedding and 1-2 Styled Shoots so that we can approve your request”

To which I replied, “Thank you so much for your reply. I have been photographing weddings for over 10 years and have MANY weddings I can share with you, very detail oriented weddings, but I don’t have any styled shoots. Is that ok?”

The response………CRICKETS. Literally no response.

So what did I do? Well…after questioning everything I have ever done and a bit of self pity….I put together a styled shoot. Picking the brain of friends in the industry that have done styled shoots before I made it work and dreamed this beautiful theme up!

I am so excited to share this with you as my first post back to blogging.

With the help of my dear friend Kathryn with Mordi Photographie we put together the sweetest, end of summer soiree type of shoot. Inspired by watermelons and outdoor summer parties this shoot is bright and fun.

Peachy Keen Paper Co gave us the most invitation suite for the shoot.

Our florist Curly Willow Botanicals brought the brightest, most whimsical florals I could have dreamed up.
Our table from Rent my Dust was styled by La Fete Event Design.
I LOVE the bicycle bar/table from HD Liquid Catering and I am so, so thankful for Cakes by Tayte. She took the style of the shoot and my vision and ran with it creating the best watermelon cake ever!
Ok. This bar. It was the first thing I wanted. I saw it on Instagram and wanted my “Watermelon Taps” to sit up on the bar. (Thankful to my husband for creating those). Dawn with Bubble Tap Dallas made this Tap Trailer look amazing and it gave the best outdoor party vibe!

It was so wonderful going through this process and I think for my 1st styled shoot it turned out amazing. We had 3 other photographers come and join and each vendor contributed and worked together so well!

Will I continue to do Styled Shoots? Yes. I will do more styled shoots…but they will be few and far between. I LOVE that I capture real couples. I LOVE that my feed, gallery, and social media is full of real people, on THEIR day.

Thank you to the most amazing vendors
