Springs Manor Wedding Dakota + Alex

wedding

March 18, 2020

Once again I had a couple that I hadn’t met before the wedding day. I am becoming more and more comfortable with it and so thankful I have the most laid back clients! This Springs Manor Wedding was a breeze though thanks to a relaxed and carefree bride and an amazing planner (yeah, Maliah, that’s you girl!)

In the midst of this whole COVID-19 pandemic there have been so many unknowns. As information has been coming out things were happening so fast. For my weekend of weddings there was no time for them to process what was going on and most of their friends and family were here…so the wedding was on!

I didn’t know how I would feel. I also didn’t know how the couple would feel. By the end of the day we realized there was very little talk of the virus and what was happening in the world and a whole lot of love, joy, and fun. I think it was just what everyone needed and I am so glad that Dakota and Alex were able to have their Springs Manor Wedding!

Most of our day was spent inside due to the rain. We held the first look, ceremony, and before portraits inside. (and of course the reception) but I made sure to get the couple and wedding party outside for at least a few photos after the ceremony.

I definitely stood in the rain for quite a while but the photos were worth it. I kept telling myself…as long as I give them great photos all the negative things will have just a little less sting for now!

Here are some thoughts from the bride + groom:

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Bride: Our first look and introduction to the reception

Groom: The ceremony in general and smoking cigars outside.

Advice for future brides + grooms?

Bride: Have a first look and get family pictures out of the way so you can enjoy the party that much more.

Groom: Spend more money on what you will actually like (food, drinks, etc). Having really good food was important to us.

Funniest Memory of the day?

Bride: Cutting the cake because of the pressure.

Groom: Brother in law doing the worm.

Is there anything you would change?

Bride: I was a little stressed about running behind but everything went really quickly that it didn’t even matter.

Groom: More alcohol

Favorite Detail of the day?

Bride: Father daughter dance!

Groom: The kiss we had outside with the dip.

Did you go on a honeymoon? If so where?

I debated on leaving this one off but here is the real talk from the bride about how the threat of the Coronavirus changed their honeymoon plans:

We planned 4 different trips. First Japan, then Switzerland, then we settled on Vegas due to all of the travel bans and changes. After a while we realized it wasn’t happening so we are hiking and getting massages instead. We will take our trips later in the year.
